Deciding On The Right Beehive For Your Garden

There is nothing I like more than spending time in my garden. Recently I’ve been considering buying a beehive to go in my garden, if for no other reason than bees are interesting creatures and very beneficial. But when I went to look at bee hives for sale, I started to realize there were more choices than I thought there would be. Here are the basics to help you decide (you might as well learn from my research).
There are two basic types of bee hives that are for sale on the market today. The first are called Langstroth hives. These are the types of hives that have removable frames and are meant to harvest honey from. The basic way that they work is that the bees produce the honey they need for the winter and then you add an extra section to the hive called a super, which you harvest the honey from. Fresh honey is a real treat. Just be sure that if you go this route you also get protective clothes.
For my garden I decided to go with an observation hive (think ant farm on a huge scale). With my observation hive I have the bees that I want for my garden, plus a beautiful element that is very interesting to look at. These types of hives come in many different styles and finishes and add a very interesting sculptural type element to your garden.
Whichever way you go, you will be happy that you got a beautiful and useful addition to your garden.
